Losing Mo, and I Don't Mean The Portly First Baseman

Games 23 through 25 - Mets

Nationals 5, Mets 1
Nationals 5, Mets 3 (8)
Mets 6, Nationals 3
Record: 12-13

The Mets muddled through the last week, posting a 2-5 record since last Saturday's swatting of the pesky Nats, and they trudged through a wet, lackluster weekend in Washington. Jae Seo calmed everyone's hopes down on Friday, Victor Zambrano has us nearly giving up on him, and Aaron Heilman finally had a plain old semi-decent outing after oscillating between stellar and stank all April. The hitters generally didn't, and it took a late rally to stave off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Ex-Expos. All in all, it was one of the dullest, most painful to watch events in this town since I caught D.C. Cab on BetaMax.

Somewhere in the course of things, the Mets had seemed to lose their fire, but here's hoping last night's redux of the early-season crunch-time surges will reignite the waning flicker in the pilot light of the Mets' engines.

That's about all I have to say . . . until I issue the obligatory 25-Game Check-Up.
